Chicken Thoran Kerala
CHICKEN THORAN KERALA
Ingredients
- Chicken pieces (cut into small pieces) - ½ kg (boneless)
- Onions (sliced) - 2 cups
- Garlic (chopped) - 2 tsp
- Ginger (chopped) - 2 tsp
- Green chillies (chopped) - 8 no.
- Chicken masala powder - 2 tsp
- Pepper (crushed) - 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
- Coconut (grated) - 1 cup
- Curry leaves
- Coriander leaves - ½ cup
- Salt
- Oil
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Urad dal (black dal) - 1 tsp
- Bay leaf
Method of preparation
- Heat three teaspoons of oil in a kadai (big pan).
- Put mustard seeds, urad dal, cumin seeds, curry leaves, ginger and garlic.
- Now add green chillies and big onions. Stir and saute for some time and add the chicken pieces.
- Mix gently. Add chicken masala, crushed pepper, turmeric powder and salt.
- You may now add two cups of water.
- Add bay leaf. Cover the vessel and cook well.
- When all of the water is absorbed, add grated coconut. Mix well.
- Cook for some more time.
- Add chopped coriander leaves and stir a bit.
- The delicious and spicy Chicken Thoran is now all yours.
