Lentil pasta sauce

 


Ingredients:

  • oil⁠
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped⁠
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced⁠
  • 1 celery stick, finely chopped⁠
  • 2 tomatoes chopped
  • 100g dried lentils, rinsed⁠
  • 400g chopped tomatoes⁠
  • 1 tbsp tomato puree⁠
  • 1 jar of pasta sauce
  • Maggi hot & sweet sauce
  • 1 tbsp sambal oelek

Method:

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. 
  2. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes or until the onion is soft. 
  3. Add the garlic and celery cook for 3 minutes. 
  4. Add the tomatoes
  5. When the onion is soft, add the lentils along with all the remaining ingredients
  6. Bring to a gentle simmer and leave for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally. 
  7. After 20-25 minutes, the sauce should have thickened.
