Koottu Kari - Kerala Tribal

KOOTTU KARI


IngredientsCut pieces of raw banana - 2 nos

  • Carrots - 1
  • Grated coconut - half of a coconut
  • Chickpea - 100 g
  • Turmeric powder - ½ tsp
  • Green chilli - 4
  •  to 5 pieces
  • Coconut oil - 2 tsp
  • Small onion - 2 nos
  • Curry leaves     
  • Salt to taste

Method of preparation

  1. Heat some water in a vessel. 
  2. Into this put chickpea followed by cut pieces of raw banana. Stir a bit. 
  3. Add pieces of carrot. 
  4. Cover the vessel and cook for some more time. 
  5. Uncover the vessel and add split green chillies. 
  6. Add salt. 
  7. Add grated coconut and stir well. 
  8. Add some turmeric and stir well. If required add some water.
  9. Put some curry leaves and stir
  10. In another vessel, take some oil and add the chopped pieces of small onion and stir gently. 
  11. Add this to the Koottu kari preparation already cooked and kept aside. Stir a bit.
