Kerala Nadan Varutharacha Beef Curry

 

Ingredients

  • Beef – 1 kg
  • Onion – 3 nos
  • Shallots – 2o to 23 nos
  • Garlic – 16 to 17 nos
  • Ginger – 1 nos
  • Green chilli – 3 to 4 nos
  • Curry leaves – 2 to 3 sprigs
  • Tomatoes – 2 nos
  • Grated coconut – 1 cup
  • Coconut pieces – 1/2 cup
  • Dry red chilli – 3 or 4 nos
  • Red chilli powder – 1 1/2 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tbsp
  • Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
  • Garam masala – 1 tbsp
  • Pepper powder – 1 tbsp
  • Fennel seed – 1 tsp
  • Mustard seed – 1 tsp
  • Salt – 1 or 2 tsp
  • Oil – 3 or 4 tbsp

Method

  1. Firstly, we have put the cleaned beef in a pan.
  2. Then add the turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and coriander powder.
  3. Then add garam masala, pepper powder and salt, mix them well.
  4. Then, pour a sufficient amount of water over them and thoroughly mix them.
  5. Then put some curry leaves on top of the beef mix.
  6. Then place the beef curry pan on fire
  7. Cover and cook till the beef becomes soft.
  8. Remove the lid and check whether the beef is well cooked or not.
  9. Remove from the heat and set aside
  10. Heat oil in a pan add grated coconut and fennel seed .
  11. Saute them well for few minutes.
  12. Add some curry leaves and sauté them well.
  13. Saute and roast them well until they become a light golden brown.
  14. Remove from heat and set aside.
  15. Then crush ginger and garlic ,keep aside.
  16. The roasted coconut should then be grinded into a fine paste and set aside.
  17. Heat oil in a pan. add mustard seed and allow it to crackle.
  18. Add dry red chillies, chopped shallots and chopped onion.
  19. Then add green chili, curry leaves and chopped coconut slices.
  20. Saute them well for few minutes .
  21. Then add crushed ginger and garlic mix,saute them well.
  22. Add red chilli powder, coriander powder, pepper powder and garam masala.
  23. Saute well until the raw smell disappears.
  24. Then add the chopped tomatoes and saute them well.
  25. Add the cooked beef, and combine them well.
  26. Pour a sufficient amount of water over them and thoroughly mix them.
  27. Cover and cook for 7 to 8 minutes .
  28. Remove the lid and add the roasted coconut grinded mixture.
  29. Mix them well and cook for a few more minutes.
  30. Remove from the heat and set aside.
  31. Serve the tasty chicken curry with boiled tapioca.
