Ingredients
- Mackerel fish, 1 kg
- Mango: 1 or 2 nos.
- Shallots: 9 to 10 nos.
- Garlic: 7 to 8 nos.
- Ginger, 1 nos.
- Green chilli: 4 to 5 nos.
- Curry leaves: 2 to 3 sprigs
- Red chilli powder: 2 tbsp
- Turmeric powder: 1 tbsp
- Fenugreek seed: 1 tsp
- Salt: 1 or 2 tsp.
- Oil: 5 to 6 tbsp.
Method
- Peel the mango, shallots, ginger and garlic and set them aside.
- Wash the shallots, green chilli, ginger, and garlic and set them aside.
- Chop the shallots and set them aside.
- Cut the green chilli into two pieces and set aside.
- Chop the ginger, garlic and mango and set it aside.
- Heat oil in a pan and add shallots and ginger.
- Saute them well for a few minutes.
- Add green chilli and curry leaves and saute them well for a few minutes.
- Add red chilli powder and turmeric powder. Saute till the raw smell is gone.
- Add some fenugreek seeds and sauté them well.
- Pour a sufficient amount of water, mix, and boil well.
- Add cleaned mackerel fish and chopped mango pieces and stir them well.
- Cover and cook till the fish is well cooked.
- Then grind the shallots, garlic, and grated coconut.
- Add red chilli powder and turmeric, grind them well, and set aside.
- Remove the lid and check whether the fish is well cooked or not.
- Add water to the grounded coconut mix and combine them well.
- Pour the grounded mix into the fish curry pan.
- Cook for a few minutes, sprinkle with some curry leaves, and mix them well.
- Pour some oil on top of the fish curry and mix it well.
- remove from the fire and set aside.
- Serve and enjoy the tasty fish curry with meals.
